LactoLycopene™
LactoLycopene™ is our award winning patented combination of lycopene and whey protein. It is highly bioavailable meaning more of it is absorbed into the bloodstream. LactoLycopene™ is clinically proven to support cardiovascular health and male fertility.

LactoLycopene™ wins ‘Healthy Ageing’ category in prestigious 2022 NutraIngredients USA Awards
We’re proud to announce that LactoLycopene™ won Ingredient of the Year in the ‘Healthy Ageing’ category at this year’s prestigious NutraIngredients USA Awards.
LactoLycopene™ listed as finalist for ‘Nutrition Research Project’ category in 2020 Nutraingredients Awards, following high-impact research on “the effect of LactoLycopene™ on sperm quality in healthy men.
The Science of LactoLycopene™
Lycopene is a powerful carotenoid with multiple potential health benefits and has been researched in areas such as cardiovascular health, prostate health and male fertility.
However, lycopene in its natural form is poorly absorbed by the body. In commonly consumed lycopene-rich foods, it is predominantly found in a crystalline form; and this crystalline structure is one of the key factors that reduces its bioavailability.
LactoLycopene™ is a patented formulation designed to address this issue. By combining lycopene in a whey protein matrix, it delivers lycopene in a solubilised, readily absorbable form.
The first human study on LactoLycopene™ absorption compared the bioavailability of LactoLycopene™ to that of tomato paste, a highly bioavailable source of lycopene. After 8 weeks of daily supplementation, LactoLycopene™ raised plasma lycopene levels by 270%, matching the levels seen with the tomato paste used as a positive control.

This research led the foundation to further explore the benefits of LactoLycopene™.
Cardiovascular Health
Endothelial function is impaired in cardiovascular disease (CVD) patients, impairing the
ability of blood vessels to dilate and allow blood to flow. This dysfunction is considered an early marker and contributor to the progression of heart disease.
The association between lycopene and improved heart health is well recognised. As a bioavailable complex of lycopene, LactoLycopene™ was investigated at Cambridge University Hospital (Addenbrookes) to assess its impact on endothelial function in both healthy volunteers and patients with stable CVD.
In this double-blind, placebo-controlled study, participants received 350 mg of LactoLycopene™ or placebo daily for 8 weeks. Patients with CVD, who initially showed impaired endothelial-dependent vasodilation, had fully restored endothelial function at the end of the study.
These findings indicate that LactoLycopene™ is a suitable solution for treating impaired blood vessel function in those with cardiovascular challenges, and is safe to take alongside statins treatment.
Lipoprotein oxidation is a key driver in the development of atherosclerosis.
In a separate study, LactoLycopene™ was shown to significantly reduce lipoprotein oxidation activity as early as week 2, with total oxidised lipoprotein levels significantly decreased by week 8. These findings suggest that LactoLycopene™ may help protect against oxidative damage linked to cardiovascular risk.
Male Fertility
Male infertility is a growing issue, driven by both reduced sperm count and compromised sperm quality, such as low motility and abnormal morphology. As a potent antioxidant, it has been suggested that lycopene could be a beneficial nutrient for addressing male infertility.
LactoLycopene™, as a bioavailable source of lycopene, was used in a double-blind placebo-controlled RCT to study the effect on sperm quality in healthy male volunteers. In this study, led by male fertility expert Prof. Allan Pacey, volunteers took two daily capsules of Fertility+ (providing a total of 700mg of LactoLycopene™) or placebo for 12 weeks.
LactoLycopene™ was shown to significantly increase the percentage of fast progressive sperm by 40% and the percentage of sperm with normal morphology by 80% compared to baseline, whereas no effect was seen with the placebo group. Fast progressive sperm are recognised as the most probable sperm to fertilise the egg during pregnancy.
Prostate Health
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition in which the prostate gland has grown larger than normal. BPH becomes a common condition for men with age:
50% of men aged 50+ suffer with BPH
88% of men aged 80+ suffer with BPH
Lycopene has been found to congregate in the prostate (1996, Clinton), and shows promise as a solution for treating BPH symptoms (2008, Schwarz).
LactoLycopene™ is a highly bioavailable lycopene complex that can help achieve optimum lycopene levels in just 8 weeks. LactoLycopene™ is frequently used in supplements to support prostate health, and has been subject to a consumer study on 86 male volunteers with prostate issues. LactoLycopene™ supplementation for 30 days indicated a 26% improvement in IPSS score from baseline, with most participants seeing an improvement in prostate function.
IPSS: International Prostate Symptom Score is a scoring system used by urologists to screen for and diagnose prostate health issues
350mg of LactoLycopene™ delivers the same amount of lycopene as eating 1 KG of tomatoes
Ateronon Heart+
Ateronon Heart+ combines our patented LactoLycopene™ with thiamin and selenium, to support a healthy heart. The ‘Tomato Pill’ has benefited from £12 million of research and development, most notably a study at the University of Cambridge NHS Hospital Trust which showed taking one capsule of Ateronon Heart+ daily over 8 weeks improved endothelial function by up to 53%.
XY Pro+
XY Pro+ has been formulated to support prostate health. This supplement contains LactoLycopene™, a highly absorbable formulation of lycopene. Taking a daily capsule of XY Pro can help boost lycopene levels to an optimum level in 4 to 8 weeks.
LactoLycopene™ is a convenient and safe alternative to saw palmetto, a common ingredient found in men’s health formulations. Despite its wide use, saw palmetto has been frequently associated with unwanted effects such as unusual bleeding and liver issues, as well as potentially affecting absorption of important nutrients.
Fertility+
Fertility+ is a male fertility supplement which has been shown to increase the levels of grade A sperm by 40%. Research at the University of Sheffield showed improvements in the morphology (size and shape) of sperm during the 12 week study. Fertility+ contains a combination of zinc – known to contribute to normal fertility and reproduction – and our patented LactoLycopene™ formulation.
